Unfortunately, our District and County Councillor was unable to attend the meeting. Her written report can be found here.
Cllr Morgan reported that there was no waste management activity at Stone Arrow Farm.
The chairman, Cllr Clay, reported that the settlement on the A44 at the corner with Stonebow Road is illegal but is in the parish of Stoulton. An enforcement notice has been served by Wychavon stopping any further work.
Cllr Clay also confirmed that the Post Office in the village has closed and will not re-open. The shop remains open and needs support from customers and more volunteers.
Regarding the parking lines considered along Main Street near the school, it is clear that most residents do not want any lines, so the council are looking at alternative solutions.
The Village Autumn Show was a great success. Cllr Clay thanked the committee members and villagers who helped make it happen. Next year more volunteers will be required.
Cllr Clay also thanked the Parishioner Action Group for all that they have achieved in the village. This has taken many hours of work which has finally paid off with little movement now at Stone Arrow Farm.
Barrels Bridge has a broken plank and a parishioner fell through the gap in the bridge this week. This has been reported to WCC and the bridge will be repaired. [The bridge was repaired on Friday 11 September.]
Cllr Wall has liaised with Wychavon DC to prompt the annual inspection of the Peopleton ditch. He also reminded landowners to keep their ditches clear.
Cllr Bailey reported that the main gate to the orchard will have a new sign. The trees have been watered five times this year and mulched.
Jeff Whittington attended the meeting as he looks after the village defibrillators. Over the last year, two new defibrillators have been purchased which require less maintenance. These are based outside the village hall and outside the shop.
Previously, funding for the maintenance has been through village donations, but this needs to be easier and formalised. However, less money is needed for the new machines. Jeff is happy to continue checking the defibrillators and training residents on how to use them free of charge.
There is a third defibrillator based at the pub but, as this is an old machine, it is more costly to maintain. Cllr Clay suggested that a £350 donation be made from the Village Show for the upkeep of the machine and that the need for this machine be reviewed over the next year.
It was suggested a training session for residents is advertised in the shop window or Bowline.
The proposed changes to local government have been paused. We expect to hear more in November.
The next meeting of the council will be on Wednesday 11 November. Parishioners are welcome to attend. there is time for parishioners to ask questions or raise issues at the beginning of the meeting.
