Following the Government’s decision to create two new unitary councils for Worcestershire, the leaders of Malvern Hills District Council, Worcester City Council and Wychavon have written an open letter to local residents explaining what happens next.
The letter outlines their commitment to working together to make the new South Worcestershire Council a success, as well as the opportunities the changes could bring. It also highlights the important role that residents and local communities will continue to play as the new council takes shape.
Over the coming months, more information will be shared as work progresses towards the shadow council elections in May 2027 and the launch of South Worcestershire Council on 1 April 2028.
Residents will have an important part to play in shaping the future of local government, and we will continue to share updates as they become available.
